Hell’s Kitchen Local

Founded by three Hell's Kitchen natives, whose family has run a deli in the neighborhood for years, they serve what I think is the closest to In-N-Out burgers, which the former Californian in me appreciates.

Hell’s Kitchen Park is a real neighborhood park, made even more so by the local volunteers who help maintain the plantings, and those who promoted the new mural on the east building facing the park. This is exactly the kind of public space this City needs more of. It became one of my favorite places and a core memory from this campaign: standing in that park surrounded by the labor leaders and rank-and-file members from the unions backing this race, looking out at a crowd of working New Yorkers who built this city and still fight to make it work for everyone. That’s the coalition I’m running with, that’s the neighborhood I’m running for, and Hell’s Kitchen Park is where it all came together.

The food is amazing and the service is always friendly. The vibe is lively and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Whether it’s their pollo adobado, spicy mezcal paloma or their delicious guacamole, I always leave happy!

The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable about wine and spirits. They have great prices, offer delivery, and occasionally host wine tastings. Javi is one of the main reasons I enjoy shopping there. He’s always ready to help and does it with a smile. They also keep treats on hand for dogs, which is perfect if you’re like me and take your dog everywhere.

Rudy’s is such a classic. It’s one of those places people from all around the world somehow end up at because of the famous promos and the fun atmosphere. Having it here is such a gem. I’ve gone there so many times with friends — it’s always a great, easy spot to grab a drink, laugh, and just enjoy the night.

Cubby’s is run by my good friend Charles, my old coworker at Pastis! I remember we would talk about our futures together on our breaks — his dream of opening up his own establishment and my passion for public service. I visited again recently and it was quite emotional to see where we have both ended up.

The Ink 48 Hotel is where my family spent the first three nights before settling into our apartment. It became a home away from home. A lot of the members from our production team stayed here, so we got to know the hotel staff quite well. They took my son and me on a tour of the penthouse suite, and that’s how we found out about the incredible rooftop bar Hudson VU. The views from the rooftop are unparalleled. I highly recommend everyone visit!

The Intrepid is a preserved piece of history that we are so lucky to have in Hell’s Kitchen. The museum holds so many pieces of military history and I always learn something new.

A great place to hang out on a weekend afternoon. The Bianca Buns made from slow-fermented Roman pizza dough are elite. I always grab a coffee and buy extra to take home. Make sure to catch the neighborhood acoustic jams every second Sunday of the month in the afternoons.
