Poseidon Bakery
Poseidon Greek Bakery has been doing the job of providing Hell's Kitchen with sweetness for the past 100 years. My favorite is the koulourakia, a delicious brittle and crispy cookie sprinkled with sesame seeds. I love indulging with a cup of strong espresso.
Layla Law-Gisiko
Claudio's Pizza
My youngest son’s favorite quick stop to grab a slice or two to go.

9th Avenue Saloon
As the oldest gay bar in HK and my love of queer history, 9th Ave Saloon is a must! Plus it’s less than a block away! During happy hour and weekend days, I can even sneak my pug Gumbo in. I love the Tom of Finland wallpaper, the hole in the wall vibes and the local community feel.
Trevor Chauvin-DeCaro
Kiehl's
Midnight Recovery Face Oil Serum feels so good, especially when you wake up in the morning.

Zabar's
OMG! It’s culinary history — from the push cart to the vast array of foods from all regions. I’m currently reading a book about the history of Zabar’s by the late Lori Zabar. I also heard three generations of Zabar’s speak; they were real, raw, authentic and wickedly funny. When I’m traveling, sometimes I’ll have my white shopping bag, and people will say, “OMG, I’ve been to Zabar’s,” and we bond immediately. They show up in movies, plays, and are part of the NYC tapestry.

BEA
This late night restaurant and bar makes specialty cocktails, has yummy bottomless brunch (if you choose) and lots of space for throwing parties — which I’ve done a few times.

Empanada Mama
Everything at Empanada Mama is amazing! Despite the name, they offer so much more than just empanadas (although their empanadas are incredible) and every single thing on their menu is truly delicious. Plus, it’s one of the few spots open 24-hours in the neighborhood. Word to the wise however — be careful with that sangria. It’s tasty but deadly.
Monique Sanchez
Central Park
The Sheep’s Meadow is a great respite from the city.
Rich Lee
Manhattan Plaza Health Club
A gym that has both HIIT and ballet classes? Only in Hell’s Kitchen! I love how low-key MPHC is. There’s no loud techno here, no garish strobe lighting, just some really nice local folks spending their Saturday mornings dancing.
Barbara Isenberg
Clinton Community Garden
I love that in the middle of Manhattan you can suddenly find a place that feels peaceful and surrounded by nature. I discovered this park while walking around the neighborhood when my parents were visiting me in New York. We were all fascinated by it — how calm it felt and how it exists thanks to the community that cares about it. It’s one of those little hidden places that make the city feel special. I haven’t been there in a while and I really miss it there.
