Morning Star News Corporation
I have been going to this news stand since the very first day I moved into Manhattan Plaza. I have a bit of a scratch-off situation so these guys see me every day. What makes it special is that it feels so neighborly. It’s nice to be asked “where have you been?” when I’ve been away. I ask them the same when they go visit their native country and return. It’s not the shop but the people that make it special.

Angelina Bakery
Angelina’s bombolones are the best. I like to get two and share with whomever I am meeting with: usually a glazed and one of the many filled flavors.

The Ailey Studios
The life within that building combines world-class artistry with true community access. The Ailey building is home to one of the greatest dance companies in the world and yet its doors are open to everyone. My son spent 10 years dancing there from 4th to 12th grade. I spent most afternoons and every weekend hanging out there, meeting other dance moms (and dads), exploring the neighborhood and watching these incredible kids do their jam. The Ailey tradition represents our city’s legacy and our future.

Norma
It has such a cozy environment that feels like home. The Sicilian food is delicious, and their gnocchi is simply amazing! It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some comfort food.

JMC Custom Framing
This place makes me happy every time I walk by thanks to the local artwork displayed in the windows. I’ve worked with them for years, and it’s always been a pleasure. I usually do my own framing, but whenever I’ve entrusted them with a piece, they’ve done exceptional work. It’s an efficiently run business, and I’m glad to see it still thriving in a neighborhood that has lost so many great businesses since the pandemic. If you have a photograph, painting, or treasured piece of art that needs framing, I highly recommend them.

The Rum House
Live jazz and a great atmosphere.
George Conway
Galaxy Diner
I love bringing relatives here for breakfast when they are in town, or stopping by with my co-workers for brunch after an early morning matinee. Great pancakes!
Jackson Cline
Fountain House Gallery
I love seeing the incredible exhibitions Fountain House presents featuring artists living with mental illness. They’re constantly engaging with the community and bringing people together through art programs and thoughtfully curated shows.

Little Pie Company
We order pies from The Little Pie Company for every major holiday, especially Thanksgiving. It is at the heart of our family’s celebratory traditions. This last year we lost my mother-in-law and having that tradition of the pies from The Little Pie Company to honor her on her favorite holiday was so key for our family.

LOS TACOS No. 1 Times Square
This is our Sunday ritual. My boyfriend and I go almost every Sunday — it’s our favorite way to end the weekend with a movie. Even when family or friends are visiting from out of town, we always bring them here. It’s a must. We feel very lucky to have one so close to where we live. The tacos are incredible and it’s always full of energy. It has definitely become one of our regular neighborhood traditions.
