Hell’s Kitchen Local

Sushi Damo is worth every penny. It's the best and freshest sushi in the neighborhood. The ramen is terrific too (especially during the winter months). They have an expansive happy hour menu for food and drinks.

My favorite place for a late breakfast/brunch. They have a lot of food options, it’s inexpensive and I absolutely love dining outside when it’s warm so I can people-watch. A diner is the ultimate American experience for me — I find it very comforting.

Their pizza and pasta is superb and the clam chowder is to die for. Whenever I get home late and feel hungry but too tired to cook, there will be Claudio's pamphlet staring at me from my fridge door. They deliver with service and a smile. They have been in Hell's Kitchen forever and never get tired of their passion for quick, tasty, Italian signature offerings.

My friend Charlie Curren was the music director there for many years and Father Peter was the neighborhood’s spiritual rock. When I walk in there it seems like I’m going back to the Hell’s Kitchen of the old black and white movies!

Cute plaza often filled with Broadway folk relaxing or eating between shows when the weather is nice. I love to sit in the plaza on a beautiful day with Stritch and enjoy people watching and a coffee.  

I freely admit to being addicted to arugula pizza!

We saw the word "tapas" on the sign, so we walked into Gurume. There we discovered — to our surprise and delight — that the cuisine is a Korean fusion unlike any tapas bar or any other Korean restaurant we'd ever been to. If you're like us, always ready for something new, try Gurumé.

The owners of the Purple Tongue, as well as the entire staff, make every customer feel special. There’s a sense of community with this restaurant/wine bar…like Cheers, where everybody knows your name! With every glass of wine and with every appetizer or main course, you know you’re getting top-notch quality. The owners’ attention to detail with both the wine and the food is impeccable. And during happy hour, you get the same quality and care for very affordable prices. It’s a win-win situation. I adore this place!

The sandwiches are best in the hood!  Alberto is such an amazing chef and interesting person... straight from Italy.
