Little Pie Company

Great for a quick sugar fix or bringing a party dessert and they always have a few gluten free options for my oldest son.

One word: pie.

A favorite of mine for decades. When we go to a dinner party, it’s a given we bring a pie from Little Pie Company. I love how W43rd smells like their Sour Cream Apple Walnut pie. What other block has such a pleasantly identifiable scent?

They have a very delicious lemon meringue pie (when it’s in season). Their other pies are great too!

Little Pie Company is my favorite place to grab sweets in Hell’s Kitchen! All of the items they sell are so good and I could eat their fruit pies for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It was always tradition to get a lemon meringue pie for breakfast on my birthday each year. Little Pie Company is just a Hell’s Kitchen staple and the holiday window displays always make me smile.

Nothing compares to the smell of Little Pie's bakery while walking down 43rd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. My favorite is the Applesauce Carrot Cake. Fun fact: my parents lived in an apartment across from Arnold Wilkerson (Little Pie Company's founder), and they had an open door policy where Arnold used their ovens to bake his pies. Imagine how good that hallway must've smelled!

I love walking by the Little Pie Company in the morning when the aroma of their fruit pies baking fills W43rd Street with the most delicious smells — butter, berries, chocolate. When I signed my lease at Manhattan Plaza, I celebrated with the most spectacular Apple Turnover I ever had.  Then I had to promise myself to NOT make that an everyday occurrence, just for celebrations and special occasions!

The pastries, pies and cakes are consistently yummy. Unfortunately, they’ve had to raise the prices by ridiculous percentages in order to subsist. But still worth it if you’re in the mood for a banana cream, coconut pie.

Nowhere else will I order a cake for my birthday parties. End of story. There’s nothing better than walking past their shop and smelling the sugary sweetness emanating from their kitchen doorway!

Sometimes I walk down 43rd just to smell the Little Pie Company, especially around the holidays. Their sour cream apple walnut is spectacular. If I had to eat one dessert for the rest of my life, this would be it.

Because. Well. Pie. Need I say more? But the BEST carrot cake in the world!!

The bakery scents capture me when I pass by there…

The first time I walked past it I was a li’l kid, and I can just recall the aroma. You can smell something sweet, hot and fresh from the other side of the block. As you get closer, it drags you by your nose like a Tom and Jerry cartoon. You see people making it from the window outside and once you walk in and see the options of pie you’re at a loss. My go-to will forever be the classic old fashioned apple pie. Eat it cold, room temperature or hot and it’s delicious. I’d walk down that street on purpose just to smell it.

Arnold Wilkerson is our very own Manhattan Plaza success story. Not only are the pies and cakes incredible, but he’s created a charming patio to meet friends and catch up right on our block.

I get nostalgic every time I walk by and smell those pies. It’s such a Hell’s Kitchen staple.

When I’m walking by and realize it’s between 7-8pm and there are half-off items available are some of the happiest moments of my life.

The pies are excellent, especially al la mode. The lovely Arnold has installed outdoor seating.

It’s my go-to for iced and hot coffees and to meet up with friends in their new outdoor seating area. A real neighborhood place which always delivers, whether it’s a dessert, a muffin, or a pie for a holiday.

This one is for my wife, who has satisfied her sweet tooth here for 23 years. Yes, it can be legitimately accused of being expensive but it has remained high quality all these years. We look forward to pumpkin at Thanksgiving, apple pie anytime and many other sorts of cakes and pies. I personally love seeing Mr Wilkerson setting up the Christmas window display each year, especially when small children walk by.

Delicious pies!! My favorite is key lime. I love that the owner began the business out of his Manhattan Plaza apartment.

Their individual chicken pot pies are delicious.

They have the best Belgian hot chocolate ever. Overpriced, but worth it once in a while.

I would probably buy a bottle of perfume with that buttery smell of pies being baked… They’re a landmark.

Their greatest PR is right at the edge of the building — if you stand there and smell the pies, you have to go in. It instantly makes you feel good.

The pies are so good, it’s dangerous having it so close by. I really appreciate the seasonal outdoor patio and whimsical window displays. If you haven’t tried their old fashioned apple pie, you haven’t had apple pie. But the seasonal strawberry rhubarb is my true favorite.

Literally THE BEST pies you have ever had in your life. Their staple, the sour cream apple walnut, will have you licking every last crumb off your plate.

What’s to say? You can smell the place a block away. The best of the best.

How blessed are we to have this here? Whenever I host a dinner I serve up their pies. OMG the sour cream apple?! What a glorious neighborhood story!

I’ve loved their carrot cake since the early 1990’s. I drooled over their carrot cake in the late 1980’s but couldn’t afford it back then.

Since I moved here eight years ago, I’ve always bought my Thanksgiving pies here. It’s become a tradition. I am obsessed over their sour cream apple walnut pie! It’s not Thanksgiving without it!

What a gem in the neighborhood! Whenever I’m editing one of my longer essays, I will bring my first or second draft to Little Pie Company. Having a cup of coffee and slice of pie makes the prospect of wading through 10,000 words more palatable.

Sour cream apple walnut pie is what you’re missing in your life.

It fills the block with the most delicious aroma. It’s perfection.
