Broadway Dance Center

My home away from home from the time it was on 55th and Broadway to now, on 45th Street. I did many student showcases and though I missed participating this year because of my bodybuilding comp, I’m planning to participate next year.

Great workout, fun people and vibe, especially if you’re into Broadway. I thought I was a pretty decent dancer but those classes taught me that I knew nothing. In a good way.

We are lucky enough to have one of the best dance studios in the whole world tucked right into Hell’s Kitchen. Just going inside to take a walk-thru or watch a class through the windows inside is thrilling. Even beginner classes are high level, and the talent is out of this world.

Where I spent a good portion of my years. The day I walked in and took Amira Mor's Bellydance Extravaganza Dance Class, I was hooked. Amira told us that "bellydance is not a hobby but a lifestyle" and true enlightenment meant that we dancers needed to "get in touch with our inner goddess." That's all I needed to hear before I was taking dance classes 4 times a week, as well as performing for the Princess of Lebanon, at parties and parades and even a cameo in the movie, Sex in the City 2. Although my life has now taken an entirely different direction, I do miss those days.
