Alvin Ailey Dance Center

I fell in love with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater when I was a teenager. I never planned to become a dancer, until I saw them perform in my home town. I remember thinking, “if I don’t dance, I’ll die.” This school has inspired me for decades. The company is dynamic, athletic, passionate and absolutely beautiful. Their storytelling through movement is mesmerizing. The instructors are nothing short of brilliant. Moving through time and space, accompanied by incredible musicians, brings me deep happiness and joy.

I LOVE DANCE! This studio is amazing. The shows are phenomenal.

It’s been a while since I’ve taken ballet class there, but I love the studio spaces, teachers and energy there.

I go to performances here fairly frequently, and I also used to substitute for one of their children’s classes. It is a place bustling with the energy of dancers and dance students. They offer classes in a variety of dance genres to students of all ages and levels of experience.

As a young person growing up, I wanted to be a ballet dancer. I still love going to see people dance.

This beautiful multistoried modern dance center on the corner of W57th & 9th not only houses the iconic Ailey Company, but also offers affordable dance classes for anybody who’d like to move their body to music. I love passing by and seeing people of all ages (and levels of experience) taking beginning to advanced classes in everything from ballet to African dance. Someday, I’m gonna get up the guts to sign up for a class.
