HK Free Store

This community spot is a place where neighbors take and leave items such as books, toys, toiletries, and household goods. It embodies our helpful HK spirit. [The Free Store is currently closed after a recent spate of vandalism.]

I love the idea of the HK Free Store — where everyone can leave what they can and take what they need. I get a lot of free stuff from what I do, and I love dropping it off and knowing that someone else will enjoy it and get use out of it. Such an amazing initiative!

I love that we have a little place where I can drop off books and other things I don’t need and someone else can get some use out of them. I donate more than I take, but I’ve found some cool stuff there!

This is community. This is love in action.

I love how this is such a community effort. Being able to contribute to something meaningful, even in a small way, is heartwarming and helps me feel connected with my neighbors.

We’re members of the local Buy Nothing Group on Facebook, but the Free Store has added another really great freecycling option for the neighborhood. I love taking my kids and dropping off things we no longer use and letting them pick out a new book or a toy. The best is when you see someone take something you just dropped off with a smile.

This is such a great place to exchange household items and find a few hidden treasures.
