The owners of the Purple Tongue, as well as the entire staff, make every customer feel special. There’s a sense of community with this restaurant/wine bar…like Cheers, where everybody knows your name! With every glass of wine and with every appetizer or main course, you know you’re getting top-notch quality. The owners’ attention to detail with both the wine and the food is impeccable. And during happy hour, you get the same quality and care for very affordable prices. It’s a win-win situation. I adore this place!

This restaurant is one of my local favorites for dinner. The quality of the food here is incredible and the people behind the restaurant, Peter and Marni, are the friendliest people ever. This place makes the BEST panna cottas! I’ve stopped by here just for desserts before. Pair that panna cotta with the Vermouth they carry which has a tart and citrusy taste that balances out the creaminess of the panna cotta super well. It’s the best way to wrap up the night!

This place is very special to me. Peter and Otis run The Purple Tongue and have made it a great community wine bar. I ran a wine and food pairing event here which was a great success, and I couldn’t be happier to have better partners to work with. The staff is exceptional, and I know any time I walk by I have to say hello. They say that their mascot the giraffe is a communal creature and that is what The Purple Tongue is at its core, a community. It’s amazing to see them to continue to grow in Hell’s Kitchen and I am excited to see their future success.

A cafe culture in Hell’s Kitchen is exactly what we need!! I’ve spent a lot of time in Italy, and the ambiance at The Purple Tongue has the same relaxed and inviting international feel as some of the great cafes in Roma and Firenze. The food is fresh and delicious and the owner Peter personally shops for his mozzarella! The staff is warm and friendly and everyone is treated like family.
